How to Create a Power Statement

The more you tell yourself something, the more you'll BELIEVE it, the more you'll BECOME it.

You have probably heard of the Law of Attraction, but do you know how it works? The idea is that what you put out into the universe is ultimately what you'll get back. What you do, what you say, even what you think, has great power and can greatly influence the world around you.

If you're constantly thinking you're an unattractive, useless, pitiful, waste of space, then you'll likely become an an unattractive, useless, pitiful, waste of space. If on the other hand you train yourself to believe you are a worthy, talented, intelligent, and capable person, your potential may just be endless.

It is easy to focus on our flaws and mistakes without acknowledging our strengths and accomplishments, but why? Perhaps we are our own worst critics because of trauma, self inflicted pressure, insecurity, doubts.... OR perhaps it is simply easier to put ourselves down because it takes less effort than actually putting in the work to improve ourselves and our current situation.

I want to challenge you to use the law of attraction, to attract what you DO want without hyperfocusing on what we don't want like so many of us do. There are many ways to rewire our brains into giving ourselves much needed self love and confidence, but here we're going to focus on achieving this self compassion through a power statement. A power statement is a mantra of sorts that you can use each day as you train yourself to attract the things that you want and become the person you want to be.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR POWER STATEMENT:

  • Make your power statement short and concise so that you can eventually memorize it. Make it no longer than a paragraph.

  • It should be written in present-tense as if what you desire is already within your grasp.

  • Don't be afraid of making your power statement over the top. If it doesn't make you blush at least a little bit then you're not thinking big enough.

  • I recommend working on your power statement with pen and paper because actually writing things down unlocks our creativity in a different way than writing on an electronic device.

  • Once you've edited and finalized your power statement on paper, type it up and print multiple copies that you can place everywhere. I have mine taped to my bedroom mirror, my car dashboard, my fridge door, my computer screen, and I even have one in my bathroom so that I can read it while sitting on the toilet! The point is that you want to place it where you'll constantly read it throughout the day, every day.

The purpose of the power statement is to help us harness our inner power so that we can manifest our desires with intent. Read your power statement often, at least once a day, preferably several times a day. Read it loudly and with conviction like a magick spell that's dependant on the volume of your voice. Let it really resonate in the room and in your heart. If you want to boost your words even more, visualize what you're saying as if it were happening before your eyes. In moments where I am out and about, I pull it up on my phone and read it quietly to myself but still with determination behind it.

Do your best to push away the negativity in your mind, and when muddy thoughts take over, recite your power statement over and over again. You might find the power statement comforting in times of doubt.

Here's an example of my power statement. Feel free to use it as a starting point and modify it to fit you. Make sure you make it very specific to YOU.

I am a healthy, fit, beautiful, and confident entrepreneur. I am extremely successful. My art is known and sold worldwide providing me with at least $10k a month. My life is abundantly full of travels, adventure, spiritual growth, and above all, love.

Since writing my power statement and reciting it daily, I have noticed a great shift in my thoughts and in my actions. I went from watching 5 to 8 hours of TV a day (in the background while doing my design work), to watching about 3 hours of TV a week. I've prioritized my time in such a way where I'm not multitasking a million things, but instead deliberately giving my attention to one thing at a time. I went from not having painted in years to steadily completing 1 to 3 paintings a week depending on the complexity of each piece. I'm seeing more engagement and interest from my audience on social media. I've started exercising more often, and making healthier food choices. I've made it a point to spend more time with my family, and nurture my friendships. My power statement consistently encourages me to be better because I want to live up to the words I am speaking, and frankly it has made me happy to speak my desires into existence.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck crafting your power statement. I hope you that you find it as helpful and uplifting as I have. If you want to share your power statement in the comments below I would love to read it. Make sure to join my newsletter for more art, and more ways to unlock the best of you. If you found this information useful, I would strongly recommend reading The 4 Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. The book doesn't discuss power statements but it does offer really powerful ideas for personal growth and transformation.

Remember to always stay true to yourself and always follow your heart.
